Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL)

Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) is a government owned company based of Karnataka and engaged in producing electrical power. The source of generating electric power are thermal, diesel and hydroelectric. The company was started in 1970 for generation and distribution of electric power. KPCL has 24 power station and 34 dams across the state with capacity of 1035 MW. Today, it has capacity of 5975 MW of hydel, solar, thermal and wind energy. The corporation has thermal power station at Raichur. KPCL had gained highest annul a turnover of Rs. 3387 crores in 2006-07, which is a national record.
